SANTA CLARA (10/29)-The Korean-American Autoharp Group (KAAG) held its regular fall concert at the Santa Clara United Methodist Church on October 28 (10/28).


KAAG's regular fall concert successfully completed its first charity concert to help Ukrainian refugee children in 2022, and this year was held to raise funds for Hansen's disease patients in the Republic of Burundi, the poorest country in Africa.


At this fall's regular concert, members from Los Angeles, Maryland, and Virginia, as well as members from Silicon Valley, attended with the desire to promote Korean children's songs and songs to the world. In addition, modern dance by dancer Kim Il-hyun and the Hop to God team from San Jose Immanuel Church participated in the concert, sharing beautiful songs and children's songs with the audience.


Chairman Kang Young-hye said, "At this concert, I want to promote to the world children's songs that contain childhood memories and Gagok, which is a static sound of the sky that contains Korean emotions and moves people's hearts.”


The concert, hosted by Eom Young-mi and Kang Myeong-jin, was attended by about 400 people, starting with LA's Purnae team's Longing, Silicon Valley's Ayeomo (Rock Pass, Barley Field), LA's Sunny Kim, and Jeon Jong-ha's duet (Namchon, Land of Hope). ), San Jose Gloria (Song of Separation, Thinking of My Brother, Island Baby), Lee Il-ju (Nostalgic Geumgang Mountain), Harp Mania (Childhood, Not Me, Heungbu and Nolbu), Love (Are You Coming, Half Moon, Pioneer), Woollim (Star, children's song medley (Blue Heart, White Heart, Pong Dang Pong Dang, Fishing)), followed by performances by Go Young-ok (I Will Live in the Clear Mountains), Ray Choi, and Go Young-ok (Perfume).


Yeonghye Kang the president of Korean American Autoharp Group (KAAG) noted that KAAG is expanding the base of the autoharp by having local leaders lead the team, and the $10,600 raised at KAAG's first regular concert last year was delivered to a place that greatly helps young students in Ukraine. The Korean American Autoharp Group (KAAG) are the 3-time winners of the International Autoharp Championship in Mount Laurel Pennsylvania (2011, 2017). In 2011, the group won the International Autoharp Championship Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas.


Founder Ray Choi, Autoharp National & International Champion.  Ray Choi invented the original finger technique on Autoharp called “Hummingbird tremolo“.  He was the first Asian winner of the American Traditional Instrument contest.  Choi’s Autoharp method book was published with Halleonald Music Publishers.
